Kurt, known as “Bottom Bender,” didn’t set out to be a bassist — he fell into it. Playing music with friends, he became the low-end foundation simply because he was the one who could afford a bass. What started as practicality quickly became passion. The groove chose him. His influences reflect depth and substance. From the rhythmic heartbeat of Bob Marley to the lyrical strength of Ani DiFranco and Joan Baez, from the raw edge of The Violent Femmes to the storytelling craft of James Taylor, Kurt’s musical DNA is rooted in feel, authenticity, and song-first sensibility. His bass playing anchors the band — steady, warm, and deeply musical.
For Kurt, being part of GSB is about joy and professionalism. It’s working alongside musicians who care about delivering great music while genuinely enjoying the process. That balance of excellence and camaraderie is what makes the experience special.
Offstage, he surprises people with his culinary side — an avid cook, home brewer, and ice cream enthusiast. Whether in the kitchen or on stage, he knows how to bring flavor to the mix.
